Welcome to our Domestic Church. Go ahead, warm up your coffee, have a virtual muffin, fresh and hot from our oven (today it’s Blueberry Buckle) and then come back and join us as we invite you to share in our family culture.
In all there are 8 of us: Gandolf the White, Lady Arwen, Rosie Cotton (10), Galadriel (8), Eowyn (6), Mr. Frodo (4), & Samwise (2). MacKenzie Grace the Starkindler, our first child, is already in Heaven where she waits for us to join her with the big bouquet of balloons she has been collecting from her siblings.
Note: We have always used aliases for our children’s names on this blog. We decided that we would prefer more creative names however, and were inspired by one of our favorite works of literature, The Lord of the Rings.
We live in beautiful Colorado (although we like to journey to Middle Earth) with our scone lovin’, rosebush diggin’, toilet water drinkin’ Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd, Shadowfax (aka Lil’ Anne). We are passionate about learning, laughing and loving together as we educate our children at home using our world (and many other worlds found in great books and minds) as our classroom. We find our greatest teacher and source of Wisdom in the Catholic Church. We gain strength and inspiration from Her many members, our extended family the Saints, who have ran the good race and received their prize. Gird up your lions and join us in this House of Grace as we run the marathon placed before us and await our Crowns.

Nice,Mommy!

This could be the beginning of another “mom’s black book”
you know the one we all ask her to read when wer’e all together?
Keep it going, you’ll have a thousand stories in no time.

What a joy to stumble onto your blog (website). I was searching for information on Drive Thru History – in particular, Rome If You Want To. The DVD set looks great but I was nervous about using it as a Catholic. So obvioulsy, you all use it. What do you think about it? Have you used any others in the DVD series? Do you make up your own lesson plans for the Western Civilization series?
Loved the picture of your family. Can’t wait to further explore your website / blog – I have no idea the actual difference which is why I don’t know which word to use.
Blessings and Sonshine to all!
