A Word Spoken

Last night as Samwise lay snuggled between my husband and I, I watched him quietly as he stirred, hoping he wouldn’t wake. His little eyes were fluttering away when out of his mouth came his Word. A Word that he speaks all day long to anyone quiet enough to listen. To this point I must have been deaf, for until last night I thought it only to be babble (perhaps Babel is the problem?) but now that he speaks it in his dreams, I know it has meaning to him. I know there is a concept behind his Word, an image in his mind as to what he speaks. A Word with so much meaning he speaks it in his dreams with an angelic smile on his face.

Tonight on this the feast of The Holy Name of Jesus, we knelt down on our prayer rug before the San Damiano crucifix and prayed the Litany of the Holy Name. Samwise climbed up on the pray-deiu, folded his hands in prayer, looked up at Jesus and again spoke his mysterious Word. I can’t help but wonder if his word is the same Word spoken in the Beginning… The Holy Name of Jesus.

In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God,

and the Word was God.–John 1:1

What a stirring and *perfect* post for the Feast.

    Simply beautiful.

And your little man could not be any more adorable. May God bless him and all of you!
